A North Braddock man is accusing police of repeatedly using a Taser on him in his own home over the summer.

Shawn Hicks, 29, said he came home early on July 28 and fell asleep on his sofa without turning off his burglar alarm.

When he awoke sleepy-eyed, Hicks said, he was shocked with a Taser three times in his living room by police.

"After they Tasered me, I told them who I was," said Hicks. "They Tasered me again. I had fell to the ground, and they sustained the Taser."

Hicks said not only did he tell police who he was but that they took out his wallet and saw that his address matched that of his identification card.

Hicks said he wrote a letter to the North Braddock Borough, asking for an apology and money to cover medical expenses, which totaled about $300.

He said he has yet to hear back from the borough, which is why, he said, he has retained an attorney.

The district attorney's office said it is investigating.
