Statement from Pittsburgh Pirates CEO Kevin McClatchy Regarding Pirates Appeal of Planning Commission's Decision.

From the beginning of this process, we have made it extremely clear that the interest of our fans must be considered. After working together with numerous groups in public sessions, discussions, and hearings, we have yet to reach an acceptable solution. Therefore, we have filed an appeal of the City Planning Commission's approval of the Master Development Plan in order to protect the interests of our fans.

The Master Development Plan that was approved by the City Planning Commission failed to meet the clear requirements under the City's Zoning Code, which requires that the Commission give serious consideration to the impact the Casino will have on traffic congestion prior to the approval of the Plan.

It is important to point out that this appeal is simply another step in the process. It is intended to protect the interests of our fans and all visitors to the North Shore without compromising the progress of the Casino.

We remain extremely hopeful that by continuing to work with all of the groups involved, including the Mayor's office and the County Executive's office, that we will reach a solution that is acceptable to everyone.
