2007 MEADOW LANDS, Pa. -- The Meadows Racetrack and Casino in Washington County will open its temporary slots parlor to the public on June 5.First, there will be invitation-only testing on June 1 and June 3. On those days, state gaming officials will make sure the casino is ready for the public."We're looking for surveillance cameras," Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board member Ken McCabe said. "We're looking for, if the slot machines are talking to the central computer system. Can the surveillance cameras see everything in the casino?" The temporary casino will have more than 1,700 slot machines, ranging from 1 cent to $1 to $25."Everything from fire alarms to security, to surveillance, to games, to playing the slot machines" will be tested, Meadows general manager Michael Graninger said. "Even the toilet flush. We're going to do it all."Invited guests of The Washington Hospital and the Greater Washington County Food Bank will be able to try out the casino on the test days, and the proceeds will benefit both of those organizations. A grandstand building will be demolished to make room for a building combining casino and horse-racing operations, and that structure is expected to be completed in early 2009.
