Upper St. Clair School District topped the list of the best-performing of Pennsylvania's 500 public school districts, according to research by the Pittsburgh Business Times.

As part of its annual Guide to Western Pennsylvania Schools, which includes detailed information about more than 800 schools among the 106 school districts in the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, the newspaper uses its formula to rank every district in the state based on three years of Pennsylvania System of Student Assessment test scores.

This is the second year USC topped the list.

Other local districts in the top 10 were North Allegheny, Hampton and Mount Lebanon.
