The Fred Rogers Learning Center in Latrobe is under construction, but police said that didn’t stop someone from stealing $25,000 worth of construction materials on Wednesday.

Police said the robber took off with about 3,800 feet of copper wire from the site, which sits across from St. Vincent College.

Police said the robber cut the locks off storage trailers and stole the materials, which belonged to three area contractors: Marsula Electric of Greensburg, Demor and Sons of Monroeville and Limbach Company of Pittsburgh.

When it's finished, the Fred Rogers Center will house most of Mr. Rogers' archives, including writings, videos and photos. It will also be a place where early childhood media is studied.

There is no word on whether the theft will hold up construction.
