Art Rooney's Statement On CasinoPOSTED: 4:21 pm EDT May 11, 2007 PITTSBURGH -- Statement Arthur J. Rooney May 11, 2007Placing a casino in a unique location like the North Shore without studying event day traffic before it is built is a totally illogical approach to an important planning process which will impact how people access the North Shore for years to come. Between the Steelers, the Pirates and Pitt, there are more than 100 major events on the North Shore each year, bringing millions of people. The process for master plan approval of the casino requires some very logical and important steps. This isn’t rocket science, but it will take some hard work to get it right. Our point is simply this: let’s understand both event day and casino traffic impacts and work to find solutions to the obvious challenges that will come. The Steelers want to see an appropriate and thorough event traffic study and specific measures identified and agreed to by PITG and the public sector before master plan approval. With that commitment, further legal action and delays can be avoided.Steelers fans have been loyal to the team and the City for generations. To ignore their needs, as well as other visitors to the North Shore, is outrageous. Related Links: More County NewsGet RSS | E-Mail Alerts Copyright 2007 by ThePittsburghChannel. All rights reserved.
