Action News Extra: 3 Steps To Better SexPOSTED: 9:20 am EDT April 27,
2007 Marriage is a union built on trust, passions and desire. It takes work to make marriage work -- but sometimes, sex gets lost in the shuffle. What if you could bring the spark back to your sex life? Not just maintain it, but actually improve it?All you need is 30 minutes -- and a little bit of sweat -- because time in the gym can make a big difference in the bedroom."Most people who exercise have a better body image as well as perceive themselves being more sexually attractive to the opposite sex," said Kimber Waldorf, fitness director of the health club at Southpointe.Medical pros agree that exercise makes you feel more desirable and increases your sexual satisfaction. For ladies, it's greater sexual response. And for guys, it can drop the risk of erectile dysfunction.Jay and Lynda Nathenson, of Scott Township, have a good romance that's coming up on 15 years."The romance is still there," Jay Nathenson said. "I think, when you meet someone and it's your soulmate, as my wife is, I just always love her. The issue is usually time. Time and energy. That is usually the obstacle."We can't promise more time, but this 30-minute plan guarantees to give you more energy.Step 1: Stamina"Cardiovascular exercise will increase your circulation, and that is basically going to enhance your experience together," Waldorf said. "A lot of good cardio, so when you are having that special moment, you won't be tired. You will be in great shape."The Nathensons get that exercise with kickboxing Bernard Robinson.Step 2: Core Strength"Developing core strength will help fine-tune your pelvic muscles, which will increase your stamina, and I'll leave it to our imagination on that," Waldorf said. "You are using the whole body. You aren't just using segments of your body. You are using the whole body as one."Waldorf's 10-minute core workout pushes those pelvic muscles with an inflatable ball."Exhale, pull your knees next to your chest, and then inhale and lengthen your legs and then release," she said. "That is a very good inner thigh one. That is how you crush coconuts."Step 3: Flexibility"The more flexible you are, the more you can try new things and experience something a little more interesting than the normal," Waldorf said. For the Nathensons, the really interesting thing is just how energetic they are after 30 minutes."We came here, we were dragging, kind of no energy, just complaining and saying we had no energy and what are we doing here, but really, I feel so energized. It's a big change," Lynda Nathenson said. But did it make a difference where it really counts -- in the bedroom? Well, some things are better left behind closed doors.
