What are the two most dangerous rooms in the house? Anyone who says "kitchen" and "bathroom" is right -- and probably has children.

WTAE Consumer Watch reporter Wendy Bell walked through an Action News viewer's home with child safety consultant Kimberly Finkbeiner, who offered several helpful ideas.

  • Tot Lok magnetic hardware keeps cabinets closed, and allows them to open only when a special magnetic key is used. (Product $20; Installation $20)
  • Sliding covers for outlets (about $4) are a good, quick fix.
  • Avoid using choking hazards such as refrigerator magnets (with black surface on back; if the magnets fall, the small magnet can break away) and rubber door-stoppers, specifically with small white rubber pads.

Many baby-proofing products are available at hardware stores and baby centers like Burlington Baby Depot.

Finkbeiner's Web site is www.safehouseco.com.
