A man was found dead as the result of a Thursday morning fire in Pittsburgh's Uptown section, WTAE's Sheldon Ingram reported. The victim was identified Friday as Kenneth Stahl, 28, of Pittsburgh. The cause of death has been declared smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning.

Police are still investigating the cause of the fire.

The fire broke out around 4 a.m. at the three-story building in the 2000 block of Forbes Avenue. A private, 24-hour social club called the Arena Health Club is housed in the building.

Three people escaped, but firefighters found Stahl's body on the second floor.

Elise DeLong, attorney for the building owner, said a mattress caught fire and was quickly put out by employees. DeLong said two explosions followed, one big and one small.

Ivestigators said they had not found evidence of explosions, but were not ruling out the possibility.

Arena Health Club advertises that it offers Russian and Turkish steam baths. Neighbors said the business is a private men's health club which does not allow women on the premises.

A building manager told Ingram that there is a lounge and dormitory room on the first floor, while the second floor has about 10 private rooms with beds. The basement has a sauna and shower.
