A Murrysville man said he is appealing a judge's ruling that states that he must take down a brightly colored barrier that is made of painted pallets.

Within 30 days, Ronald Thompson must take down his makeshift fence.

Authorities also said he would have to pay a $600 fine plus court costs.

Thompson said he put up the 800-foot fence after neighbors complained about his dogs crossing into their yards.

"They let them out at different times, and I have a 10-year-old and an 8-year-old who I am really fearful of letting them out with this," said neighbor Bill Evans. "It's just not a good situation."

Wednesday's decision upholds an October ruling that the fence violates Murrysville's garbage ordinance.
