On Tuesday, a much-needed break was given to developer Kilbuck Properties and its troubled Wal-Mart project along Route 65, the site of a massive September landslide.

The Department of Environmental Protection has agreed to give Kilbuck more time to install slope and groundwater monitors that will determine how stable the site is.

The DEP said it's granting the extension because of the extremely cold temperatures over the last few weeks.

Kilbuck was given until April 9 to install the equipment and write a report on the site's stability.
