Federal money that paid for police protection at the Flight 93 memorial in Somerset County has run out.

Since its inception, sheriff's deputies patrolled the site 24 hours a day thanks to grants and park service monies.

Now, state police will have to respond to calls there and will only randomly patrol the area.

The county said it's hopeful a regional police force that's in the works for several communities near the memorial will eventually return 24 hour patrols.
