Repair crews around the region were out all night on Tuesday and have been working all day Wednesday repairing what they call scattered power outages.

Most electric companies said they moved into storm gear Tuesday night when the snow began falling hard. Shortly after, ice began forming in the region.

Several thousand people across the region were impacted by outages due to snow and ice buildup on power lines.

Allegheny Power said it currently has outages in Allegheny County (1,019 customers), Fayette County (514), Washington County (104) and Westmoreland County (30).

The company hopes to have electricity restored for customers by midnight.

Duquesne Light reported about 10,000 customers without power early Wednesday, but repairs knocked that number down to about 1,500.
