Work on the new North Shore Connector is moving ahead this week –- which means some lane closures for drivers.

One lane of Reedsdale Street was closed Monday morning to accommodate construction crews. They need to relocate power, phone and sewer lines so that digging can begin.

Heavy equipment is being moved into place to drill a 1,200-foot tunnel under the Allegheny River for Port Authority trolleys to travel from Downtown to the North Shore.

Once digging begins, Reedsdale Street will close for at least five more months.
