Two local missionaries were shot and killed in Kenya on Saturday in front of family members.

Fifty years ago, the day after Lois and Bill Anderson were married in Beaver County, the couple started studying African languages to begin their mission lives.

The Andersons, along with their daughters and one of their sons in law, were in a car waiting for an escort when carjackers attacked.

According to a friend of the victims, the carjackers shot Lois first, injuring her, before shooting her to death.

Zelda, 52,the Anderson's daughter, was also killed.

"I think the last thing a mission family would be is vengeful," said family friend Pat Templin. "They would forgive those who did it and pray for those whose lives were affected."

"The family knows where Lois and Zelda are, and that dissolves the anger, and they know that God will comfort them in due time," said Templin.

Two of the attackers were shot and killed by police.

Lois and Zelda Anderson will be buried in Kenya on Friday.
