Graffiti Writers Tag Brookline Businesses, Dormont Cars

POSTED: 11:50 am EST January 22, 2007

Business owners in Pittsburgh's Brookline neighborhood found graffiti all over their stores when they opened up Sunday morning, WTAE Channel 4's Ari Hait reported.

Brick walls, doors and windows were covered at more than a dozen businesses on Brookline Boulevard, both in the front and in an alley behind the stores.

A couple of blocks away, some Dormont residents also woke up to find graffiti -- and more.

"I noticed someone had stuck some sort of a blade through the rear tire (of his car) and slit the whole way around," said Joe Kodba, whose windshield wiper was also torn off.

"Some of the other neighbors up and down the block had some salad dressing, of all things, dumped on their cars, and had some denting and whatnot," Kodba said.

Neither Kodba nor the Brookline business owners said they were hopeful that the vandalism would end any time soon.

"We thought about videotaping, but I'm really not sure what the solution to the problem is," said one business owner who declined to be identified.
