A Derry Area High School sophomore disappeared from Derry Township and has been missing for two weeks, police said.

Arley Earhart, 16, was dropped off at the BP-Pit Stop Quik Shop on Jan. 5 and hasn't been seen since, police said.

Earhart doesn't appear on the store's surveillance tapes, but some witnesses have provided statements, according to WTAE Channel 4's news exchange partners at the Tribune-Review.

Latrobe police took over the investigation because Earhart was staying with her grandmother in Latrobe when she disappeared.

Police said Earhart's cell phone is shut off and has not been used since she disappeared.

"People have been leaving messages on her cell phone to please call, and she hasn't returned a call to anyone," said Earhart's mother, Renee McCleary.

"It's obviously a concern at this point," said Latrobe Police Officer Michael Wigand. "We would have expected some information from a friend or someone. Not having that, we did solicit the help from the state police and the County Detective Bureau."

Anyone who thinks they may have seen Earhart is asked to call their local police department.
