A credit card firm has filed an action against City Councilwoman Twanda Carlisle over an allegedly unpaid bill of $4,325.

Capital One Bank, of Syosset, N.Y., alleges that Carlisle has failed to pay the balance due on a credit card that carries a 25.9 percent interest rate.

The action was filed last week, demanding Carlisle pay the entire balance and interest. An arbitration hearing is scheduled for March 6.

"I want to reassure my constituents and the general public that this is an issue I have been addressing for some time," Carlisle said in a statement. "Like many people, I currently have a billing dispute over charges on my account. I have been and will continue to work with the company to resolve this issue."
