DEP Rejects Kilbuck Properties' Landslide PlanPOSTED: 5:37 pm EST December 6,
2006 KILBUCK TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- The Department of Environmental Protection is rejecting a Kilbuck Township developer's report on how to stabilize the hillside that slid onto Route 65 months ago.The plan was required in the wake of the September landslide at the site of a proposed Wal-Mart, but the DEP has just notified Kilbuck Properties that its plan is deficient. The plan was submitted late Friday after the developer got a one-month extension.Kilbuck Properties said the site is mostly stable. However, the developer told the DEP it did not have enough information to show how the site could be permanently stabilized. But the DEP said it needs that information to ensure the safety of thousands of drivers along Route 65.The DEP has given the developers 14 days to correct its plan. If the developers miss the deadline, they could face fines.Kilbuck Properties officials were not available for comment. DEP officials said the developers have promised they will fix the plan within the next two weeks. Related Links: More County NewsGet RSS | E-Mail Alerts Copyright 2006 by ThePittsburghChannel.
