The groundbreaking for the start of Western Pennsylvania's first casino was held in Washington County on Thursday morning.

The Meadows Racetrack is building a temporary casino, but has plans to build a permanent, two-story casino with roughly 3,000 slot machines.

"We don't want to just be a building with slot machines," said casino owner Bill Paulos. "We're here to provide an overall entertainment atmosphere."

The temporary casino is expected to open in the sp ring.
