A man in an electric wheelchair lost control and rode into the Allegheny River Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Tom Lippert, who used the scooter to get around because of a spinal problem, said he was fishing with a friend Wednesday morning outside PNC Park when he lost control of the scooter.

Lippert was treated and released from a local hospital.

Although his scooter is now at the bottom of the river, Lippert said he will be back out fishing on Thursday.
