Karl Undergoes Successful Surgery

POSTED: 2:52 pm EDT May 20, 2008

(Sports Network) - Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl underwent successful surgery to replace his left hip Tuesday.

The surgery was performed at Rose Hospital by Dr. Hal Crane of Orthopedic Associates and lasted more than two hours.

In his third full season with the Nuggets Karl led his squad to a 50-32 record, good enough for the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference playoffs. The Nuggets were swept by the top-seeded Los Angeles Lakers in the first round.

Karl, who first joined the team in the middle of the 2004-2005 season, is expected to resume walking without the help of a cane in seven to 10 days.
