Black Friday: Mall Info, Web Sites, Sales, Coupon Codes

Get Linked To Pittsburgh-Area Malls, Shopping Centers

UPDATED: 4:58 pm EST November 27, 2009

Commonly known as "Black Friday," the day after Thanksgiving is traditionally one of the busiest times of the year for shoppers.

Many local stores have extended normal hours. Some will open as early as 4 a.m. for holiday shoppers who will be looking for sweet deals throughout the Pittsburgh area.

Shop Online Before You Leave Home

A trip on the Internet could save you time and money. Many Web sites purport to have information about deals at major retailers in advance. Look to the right of this story for links to deal and coupon sites.

Deals on these sites aren't guaranteed, but many offer a sneak peek at planned sales. Be sure to check actual store flyers or Web sites to confirm pricing. Shoppers are also advised to read any fine print, as some stores will have very limited quantities of sale items.

A number of major retailers, such as Staples, will use a Facebook page or other social networking site to post the latest specials.

Major online retailers like Buy.com, Overstock.com and Amazon.com will also have Black Friday sales, saving shoppers a trip to the store.

And don't forget about "Cyber Monday" -- the Monday after Thanksgiving. A growing number of retailers are using that day to promote online sales. (Learn More)

Malls, Stores Offer Incentives

Some malls are offering incentives, like The Mall at Robinson, which will give gift cards worth between $10 and $500 to the first 100 shoppers.

Beaver Valley Mall will give shopping bags loaded with coupons to the first 500 shoppers, and Monroeville Mall will give away coupons worth $1,100 in savings, Ingram reported.

Wal-Mart is staying open overnight on Thanksgiving Day into Friday.
