(Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians announced that infielder/outfielder Matt LaPorta underwent a pair of procedures Tuesday in Vail, Colorado, one to his left hip and the other his left big toe.

The arthroscopic hip surgery involved Dr. Marc Philippon performing a debridement of a bony impingement in the joint. Dr. Thomas Clanton operated on the toe, stabilizing the loose joint. Recovery time is expected to be four-to- six months.

LaPorta, the crown jewel Milwaukee gave up in the CC Sabathia trade, batted .254 with seven home runs and 21 runs batted in over 52 games with the Indians last season. In 93 games for Triple-A Columbus, LaPorta, the seventh overall pick in the 2007 draft, sported a .299 batting average with 17 home runs and 60 RBI.
