MLB Game Summary - Minnesota At Pittsburgh

Bradenton, FL -- Julio DePaula's errant throw enabled the winning run to score in the bottom of the ninth inning, as the Pittsburgh Pirates edged the Minnesota Twins, 5-4, at McKechnie Field. In the home half of the ninth, Chris Duffy drew a leadoff walk from DePaula and moved to second on a single by Jose Castillo. David Ross then attempted a sacrifice bunt and the ball was fielded by DePaula. The reliever then threw wildly to third, allowing Duffy to score the winning run. Jack Wilson slammed a solo home run for Pittsburgh.
Brian Meadows tossed a scoreless ninth inning to earn the win. Mark Redman started for the Pirates and yielded four runs on eight hits in five innings. Jason Bartlett and Juan Castro hit homers for the Twins. Carlos Silva got the start for Minnesota and hurled five shutout frames. He surrendered just two hits and struck out three.
