Bradenton, FL -- Craig Monroe belted two home runs and drove in five runs to power the Detroit Tigers past the Pittsburgh Pirates, 15-2, in Grapefruit League action at McKechnie Field. Monroe finished with three hits, while Rondell White, Tony Giarratano and Mike Hessman all homered and knocked in a pair of runs for the Tigers, who improved to 10-8-2 this spring. Jeremy Bonderman allowed a hit over five scoreless innings. He also fanned five and walked two, as he improved to a perfect 3-0 in exhibition action.
Ryan Doumit and Graham Koonce both homered to account for the Pirates scoring. Mark Redman was tagged with the loss, as he was pounded for five runs and eight hits in five frames. He also struck out three and walked a batter.
