Bradenton, FL -- Craig Wilson's three-run home run highlighted a five-run first inning as Pittsburgh defeated Boston, 5-3, in spring training action. Jose Castillo and Tike Redman each knocked in a run in the frame for the Pirates, who had eight hits in the win. Oliver Perez allowed three runs on three hits and a walk, but still picked up the win to even his record at 1-1 for the spring.
John Halama yielded five runs on seven hits to absorb the loss. Adam Hyzdu plated all three runs for Boston with his home run in the third stanza.
