Buccos Want You To 'Come Hungry'

POSTED: 2:38 pm EST March 15, 2005

No, we're not talking about nachos.

Opposing teams are on the menu at PNC Park this season, according to the Pirates' new marketing campaign, "Come Hungry."

The team's 2005 slogan -- complete with promotional lunchboxes and cookies -- was unveiled Tuesday morning at Tom's Diner on the South Side.

Fans can expect humorous print and television ads featuring the Bucs' young, emerging players -- like left-handed strikeout artist Oliver Perez in his kitchen, cooking up a batch of "K"-shaped cookies.

"Everyone is hungry for a winner," said Tim Schmidt, the club's vice president of marketing and sales. "We believe (general manager) Dave Littlefield and his staff have put together a group of players who will be exciting to watch all year. They're a competitive group that are going to leave it all on the field every night."
