Sabathia Doesn't Start After Warm Up

POSTED: 5:25 pm EDT April 22, 2004

Cleveland Indians pitcher C.C. Sabathia warmed up, but missed his scheduled start against Kansas City on Thursday after reporting soreness in his left shoulder.

Sabathia, whose start was pushed back a day when Wednesday's game was cancelled because of rain, is 1-0 this season with a 1.71 ERA in three starts. He was 13-9 with a 3.60 ERA in 30 games last year.

Jeff D'Amico, not slated to pitch until Sunday in Detroit, made the emergency start for Sabathia. He yielded two runs in 5 1/3 innings, but didn't figure in the decision.

Cleveland won the game 5-4 after a three-run rally in the eighth inning.
