Red Sox Activate P Aardsma

Chicago, IL -- (Sports Network) - The Boston Red Sox activated pitcher David Aardsma from the 15-day disabled list on Friday.

The 26-year old has been on the DL since July 19 with a right groin strain.

On the season, he is 3-2 with a 2.75 earned run average in 38 appearances.

The team had optioned pitcher Chris Smith to Triple-A Pawtucket after Wednesday's 8-2 win against Kansas City to make room on the roster for Aardsma.
