Bronx, NY -- (Sports Network) - New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter played in New York's 8-0 victory on Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles, going 0- for-3 with a run batted in and a run scored. He left Tuesday's 12-2 loss to the Orioles with a wrist injury after being hit by a pitch. He had X-rays on the hand which turned out negative and he said that he felt fine. With two outs in the bottom of the third, Baltimore starter Daniel Cabrera hit Jeter on the left wrist with a pitch, and the star shortstop was lifted in favor of pinch-runner Alberto Gonzalez, who remained in the game at short. It was the third time Jeter has been hit by a pitch this season and the 132nd beaning of his 14-year career. In the sixth, the benches cleared after Yankees pitcher LaTroy Hawkins threw far inside twice to Orioles outfielder Luke Scott. Hawkins was immediately ejected by home plate umpire Chuck Meriwether and while the benches and bullpens both emptied, the opposing sides were kept apart. Jeter's average sits at .306 for the season.
