Minneapolis, MN -- (Sports Network) - Boston Red Sox outfielder Manny Ramirez was held out of the starting lineup for Sunday's 9-8 loss against Minnesota due to a sore right hamstring.

However, Ramirez pinch hit in the ninth inning, grounding out to end the game. With Coco Crisp at second base, Ramirez had a chance to tie the game or put Boston ahead, but he was easily out on the grounder to shortstop.

Ramirez is hitting .299 with seven homers and 24 RBI in 38 games this season. He's three homers shy of 500 for his career.

Jacoby Ellsbury replaced Ramirez in left field Sunday.
