The following statement was e-mailed to Channel 4 Action News on Nov. 15, 2003:

"Chi-Chi's has recently learned of a third death in connection with the outbreak of Hepatitis A in Beaver Valley. We are deeply saddened by any untimely loss of life and extend our sympathies to the family and friends of all of those who have been impacted.

"The origin of this outbreak is still unknown. Chi-Chi's continues to support, in every way possible, the public health authorities and their ongoing investigations to identify the source of this outbreak. Our medical advisor remains in constant communication with those officials and we are working closely together to satisfy all of their information requests. We have taken a number of voluntary steps consistent with our primary objective, which is to take every possible action to prevent the spread of this outbreak and ensure the health and safety of all of our employees, guests and the community at large."
