POSTED: 5:04 pm EDT October 28, 2009

Allegheny County is recording more cases of H1N1 flu than any other county in Pennsylvania, according to new numbers from the state Department of Health.

Statistics released on Wednesday afternoon show that Allegheny is Pennsylvania's only county with more than 1,000 confirmed cases of H1N1.

Westmoreland County is second in the region with 124 confirmed cases, followed by Butler County with 94.

Washington County has reported 68 cases, Lawrence County has 57 and Venango County has 46, according to the state health department.

Also, the number of H1N1 flu cases has quadrupled in the past week in Venango County, which only had 10 cases last week.

The state health department said it continues to use up a batch of 566,000 vaccinations that was received last week and is prepared to order more as soon as they become available.
