2009 WAYNESBURG, Pa. -- The first energy-producing windmill has been erected in Greene County, located in the southwestern corner of Pennsylvania.The Skystream 3.7 windmill was erected by Tri State Electricity of Waynesburg.The windmill is on the property of John Stewart, who wants to use the electricity produced to power up an environmentally friendly kennel next to his home off Route 218 in Franklin Township.Tri State officials said windmills like Stewart's cost about $15,000 to $18,000 but can save the average homeowner $500 to $800 in electricity costs. The windmill can be turned by winds as low as 8 mph.
