The original sentence for 20-year-old Britnee Moore was adjusted on Monday, as she was again ordered to serve five months in Greene County Jail -- with credit for time served -- for causing the car crash that killed 16-year-old Hope Maley.

After being released, Moore will spend the rest of her three-year sentence on probation under the county's supervision -- not the state -- and she must do 300 hours of community service, including talking to local high school students about the dangers of driving while using a cell phone.

It's essentially the same sentence Moore received in July, only with a different supervisor.

State police said Moore was going too fast in a 45 mph zone and reaching for a cell phone when her car collided head-on with Maley's vehicle in Franklin Township in March 2007.

Maley, who attended Waynesburg High School, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck on a curvy section of Route 218 near Randy Hoge Road.

Moore was convicted in June on charges of homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment. Maley's mother, Darlene, had written Judge William Nalitz a letter asking for a stiffer sentence.

"The judge did say during the sentencing that no sentence would help the family, but I disagree. I was hoping she would be mandated to a state prison," said Darlene Maley at the time of Moore's original sentencing in July.
