(Sports Network) - The PGA of America has selected the Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey to host the 100th PGA Championship in 2016.

"For us to be able to host our Centennial Championship there at Baltusrol is a wonderful opportunity for us," PGA of America president Brian Whitcomb said. "We are honored to say that our friends at Baltusrol will have us as their partner in 2016."

The 2016 championship will be the ninth major held at Baltusrol. The club was also site of the 2005 PGA Championship won by Phil Mickelson and has hosted seven U.S. Opens and two U.S. Amateurs. Past U.S. Open champions at Baltusrol include Jack Nicklaus in 1967 and '80 and Lee Janzen in 1993.

Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota will be the site of next year's PGA Championship, followed by Whistling Straits in 2010. Atlanta Athletic Club will host the 2011 event, while Kiawah Island's Ocean Course will host in 2012.

This year's PGA Championship at Oakland Hills will feature a record purse of $7.5 million, with a first-place check of $1,350,000.
