Fayette County Elects First Female JudgeDistrict Attorney Nancy Vernon Looks Like WinnerPOSTED: 4:59 pm EST November 4, 2009 UNIONTOWN, Pa. -- Fayette County voters apparently elected the county's first female judge on Tuesday.Unofficial returns show that District Attorney Nancy Vernon, a Democrat, won the race against Republican attorney Ernest DeHaas III for a Common Pleas seat.Vernon was leading 54 percent to 46 percent with 95 of the county's 98 precincts reporting.The 54-year-old Vernon was the first woman to practice law in the county and is its first female district attorney.
