LUZERNE TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- It's called "mud bogging," where the goal is to drive a vehicle through a pit of mud. But as one teenager found out in Fayette County, it can be dangerous.
Emergency responders said a 15-year-old boy had to be pulled from mud that was up to his waist, after a mud-bogging experience gone bad in Luzerne Township on Thursday night.
"You try to pull him out, then you get stuck. So you got to let him out and pull yourself out, then you try to regroup and pull him out some more," said Cody Collins, an Isabella firefighter who was one of the rescuers.

Watch Ashlie Hardway's Report From Fayette CountyFire crews were called around 10:30 p.m. about a stuck vehicle at the scene. When they arrived, they found the teen trapped.
Isabella Fire Company Chief James Dugan said dozens of rescuers jumped in to help the boy, a daring move considering crews could have become stuck as well.
"Put a strap around him, a couple guys went out, helped him while they pulled him in. He's very lucky. Why they want to ride on that stuff? That stuff is dangerous," Dugan said.
Collins said kids often go mud bogging in the area.
"It's not really dangerous if it's supervised right, but in this case, they definitely didn't know what they were doing," he said.
The teen was taken to Uniontown Hospital and released. The driver of the vehicle wasn't hurt.
