Pittsburghers Rally Against California's Proposition 8Demonstrators Seek Equality For All After Same-Sex Marriage Ban PassesPOSTED: 6:49 pm EST November 15, 2008 PITTSBURGH -- Four states voted against allowing same-sex marriage on Election Day, prompting ongoing protests across the country.On Saturday, a local rally comprised part of a national protest against Proposition 8, an amendment to California law that restricts the definition of marriage to a union between a man and a woman.Speakers in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood shared their personal stories with more than 100 people at the rally in Schenley Plaza.Many said they want to be treated like everyone else. Organizers said Proposition 8 denies citizens basic rights others enjoy."I just want to make it apparent it's not a gay and lesbian issue.
