The late Fred Rogers spent more than 40 years teaching children to be compassionate, caring, giving neighbors.

In honor of America's favorite neighbor, WQED and Family Communications dedicated a dinosaur statue to the city of Pittsburgh and people of southwestern Pennsylvania on Monday.

David Newell, who played Mr. McFeely on the "Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood" television show, unveiled the statue with help from Turner Elementary School students.

The dinosaur features the sweater-and-sneakers combo made famous by Rogers. A neighborhood trolley adorns its tail.

The permanent home of "Fredosaurus Rex" will be in front of WQED in the city's Oakland neighborhood.
