"If It Ain't Broke, Break It" is on the schedule for opening night of this weekend's annual 3 Rivers Film Festival, and it was made by a Pittsburgh doctor who moonlights as a filmmaker.

The many patients who he shares with his partners in Garfield know him as Dr. Ravi Godse, but Pittsburgh-area moviemakers and a few movers and shakers in Hollywood know him as Ravi the screenwriter and director.

"Since a child, I wanted to be a storyteller. I would love to talk and tell stories," Godse told Channel 4 Action News reporter Sheldon Ingram.

Godse said he got a lucky break when Hollywood producer Kathy Oliver moved to Pittsburgh and "adopted me as her pet project, and then she opened up all the doors in Hollywood for me."

That helped Godse land actors like Steve Guttenberg and Richard Kind to star in "If It Ain't Broke, Break It."

Godse said that he's already starting to work on his next film while he continues to practice medicine.

"Some of the old ladies who love me to death were telling me that they're going to pray that I'm not successful because they don't want to lose me," he said with a laugh.
