More than 1.5 million people signed up for a chance to attend a memorial service for Michael Jackson on Tuesday, with only 8,750 names being chosen, including a Washington County woman.

"He was just the ultimate performer in every way," said Kelly Watson.

But the lifelong Jackson fan won't be making the trip to Los Angeles' Staples Center to say goodbye to the 'King of Pop.'

Kelly Watson (left) and her best friend won tickets to attend Michael Jackson's memorial service, but won't be able to attend.

Watson, of Canonsburg, said she was thrilled to receive an e-mail Sunday night notifying her that she had been chosen.

She called her best friend and they started making travel plans.

Then she noticed the fine print that stated she had to be there by 6 p.m. Monday to get her tickets in person, something that was nearly impossible.

"The flights from Los Angeles to Pittsburgh that were in a reasonable price range were landing at 5:19 p.m. and we had to be there to pick up the tickets at Dodger Stadium at 6 p.m., so that gave us 41 minutes to go 21 miles through rush hour traffic in LA. I didn't think that was going to happen," said Watson.

She wishes she had been notified earlier and had more time to find tickets for the cross-country flight.

"Very disappointed, it's something that comes along once in a lifetime," said Watson.

WTAE Channel 4 will have live coverage of the memorial service for Jackson beginning at 1 p.m. eastern time Tuesday.
