Perhaps a little good luck and good cheer accompanied the moving of the Miss Pennsylvania pageant to Allegheny County this weekend.

The Miss Pennsylvania Scholarship Pageant crowned Miss Armstrong County, Shannon Doyle, as the 2009 Miss Pennsylvania.

The events took place all week at the Syria Shrine in Harmar, and the finals were held Saturday night.

Last year's winner was Kendria Perry, a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz School of Public Policy and Management.

Miss Pennsylvania will represent the state at the Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas in January, and she will receive a cash scholarship.

The Miss Pennsylvania pageant moved to Allegheny County for 2009 after being held for many years in the Lehigh Valley region in Nazareth, Pa.

The first runner-up was Miss Cambria County Courtney Thomas, followed by Miss Three Rivers Shauna Rice, Miss Central Pennsylvania Sarah Timm and Miss Golden Triangle Katelyn Koval.

Miss Butler County Kristy Weber won the Miracle Maker Award.
