"Royal Rumble," WWE's pay-per-view extravaganza where the winner will be allowed to pick the title match of his choice at "WrestleMania 25," is in the history books.

Podcast : 'Old School, New School' -- Episode 95

So who won the big one? In this column, I'll not only give you the winner -- but the final four contestants in the "Rumble" match. I'll also tell you who will win the rest of the tumbling contests on this card, which comes your way from the dynamic city of Detroit. Ready for some wisdom? Thought so:

WWE Women's Championship: Beth Phoenix (c) vs. Melina
What Should Happen: I'd love to see the WWE return of Gail Kim here. The ex-TNA star should challenge Phoenix after the female champ makes short work of Melina.

What Will Happen: I expect Phoenix to retain. Don't be surprised if Kim shows up.

What Did Happen: Melina pinned Phoenix to grab her crown.

ECW Championship Match: Jack Swagger (c) vs. Matt Hardy
What Should Happen: Swagger definitely has swagger, and seems to deserve his push. Hardy, in the star-making role, should be pinned so Swagger can further build his momentum.

What Will Happen: WWE wouldn't put a belt on Swagger just to take it away two weeks later. Swagger wins.

What Did Happen: Swagger got the clean pin and the win to retain the ECW belt.

One Year Ago: 2008 'Royal Rumble' Results

WWE Championship Match: Jeff Hardy (c) vs. Edge
What Should Happen: I'd like to see Hardy get a convincing butt-kicking win over Edge, just to prove to the wrestling world that he's a worthy champion. Anything less would be disappointing. It's no fun to have a popular wrestler finally win a major title and then have him be treated like dirt. That happened to Rey Mysterio, and it shouldn't happen to Jeff Hardy.

What Will Happen: I'm picking Hardy to retain.

What Did Happen: Matt Hardy turned heel and hit his brother Jeff in the head with a folding chair, and Edge got the pin.

World Heavyweight Championship Match: John Cena (c) vs. JBL
What Should Happen: Shawn Michaels will be in JBL's corner since he now "works" for the heel. If I were writing the show, Michaels would come to his senses and refuse to help JBL win. That sets up JBL vs. Michaels at WM25 -- which can have a title attached to it if WWE wishes. Cena, who generally does a great job, still bores me for some reason. To me, Michaels vs. JBL seems more interesting.

What Will Happen: Cena will retain is title.

What Did Happen: HBK interfered on JBL's behalf (knocking out both Cena and his boss), but the cowboy heel still lost. Cena is still the champ.

Royal Rumble Match
What Should Happen: Here are the known participants: Shelton Benjamin, Big Show, Carlito, Ted DiBiase, Finlay, Mark Henry, Chris Jericho, Kane, Brian Kendrick, Kofi Kingston, Vladimir Kozlov, Santino Marella, Miz, John Morrison, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, C.M. Punk, R-Truth, Cody Rhodes, Triple H and Undertaker.

If it were up to me, ex-TNA star Christian would show up as a surprise entrant and make some noise in his big return to WWE. I also think Kozlov and Kingston should do some damage in an effort for the audience to take them more seriously.

What Will Happen: Christian, Triple H, Randy Orton and Chris Jericho will be in the final four. Orton will win the contest.

What Did Happen: Triple H, Orton, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase were the final four. No Christian. The winner? Are you kidding me? Orton. Just like I said.

That'll do it. For the night, I made nine predictions, and was right five times. That's better than half. The real kicker? I picked the "Rumble" winner, and had half of the final four correct. Go ahead. Say to yourself, "How did he know Orton was going to win?" My reply? "Because I am the man. I am Professor Wrestling."
