A young Beaver County man with terminal lung and liver cancer knew he was in for some excitement hanging out with a baseball star in New York -- but he had no idea just how much.

Paparazzi swarmed Alex Rodriguez and John Challis, 18, while the two were leaving A-Rod's apartment Tuesday, pressing the Yankees' third baseman about Internet rumors of an affair with Madonna.

Rodriguez and Challis did their best to dodge the reporters and photographers without answering any questions and ended up driving away safely.

The whole thing was captured on video at INF Daily's Web site.

Challis, a baseball fan from Freedom, has been given only a few months to live by doctors. He's using sports to help spread a positive message of living for today through his John Challis Courage for Life Foundation.

Challis met the Yankees last week during their three-game series at PNC Park, while he was the Pirates' honorary manager for one night. He said he wanted to see Yankee Stadium, and the team is granting his wish.
