Call 4 Action: Look Out For Hannah Montana Ticket ScamsPOSTED: 5:25 pm EDT October 5,
2007 PITTSBURGH -- Tickets to the Hannah Montana concert at Mellon Arena cost a fortune online.Call 4 Action reporter Aaron Saykin said buyers could really get ripped off, as thieves hope parents will do almost anything to get their children into the show.Tickets to the concert were sold out in just minutes, but Heather Micco, of New Castle, thought she had stumbled onto a good deal.Micco found an inexpensive listing on eBay. However, the seller wanted Micco to wire the money instead of buying the tickets through eBay.Micco was warned by eBay that the deal was a scam."I think it's a shame to where it's come down to, where you get a nice teenage girl for your kids to look up to and something you can do together as a family, but it's been overcome by greed, and it's disgusting," Micco said.Attorneys general from three states, including Pennsylvania, are investigating the concert ticket sales. Two of them are suggesting that scalpers acquired special software that allowed them to buy tickets online more quickly than everyone else.Mary Beth Buchanan, the U.S. attorney in Pittsburgh, asked the local FBI cyber unit to offer Ticketmaster some help.Buchanan said she wants to "find out precisely how these tickets were purchased, when they were purchased and how the system was impacted."Ticketmaster has come up with another 1,000 tickets to sell for the Hannah Montana show in Kansas City, but Mellon Arena officials said they've squeezed out every possible seat for the Pittsburgh show, given the size of the concert stage and equipment.
