Professor Wrestling: 'Survivor Series' ResultsThe Annual Post-Turkey Turnbuckle ShowPOSTED: 10:27 am EST November 22, 2006 Listen up!Class is in session.Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. If you didn't curl up with WWE and :Survivor Series," this column recaps exactly what heppened on that show. But before we get to that, on our "Old School, New School" podcast this week (Episode Nine), my fellow instructors Dr. Mike Lano and George Schire talk about a new circuit that might actually give WWE some competition, and we answer a few more "where are they now" questions from readers of this column. If you don't download it RIGHT HERE, you might as well get fitted with a dunce cap and go sit in the corner. As for "Suvivor Series," here's what happened:Survivor Series Match: Triple H, Shawn Michaels, DX, CM Punk, Matt and Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton, Edge, Johnny Nitro, Mike Knox and Gregory Helms. What Should Happen: ECW, Smackdown and Raw stars mix it up in this format. Since Orton and Edge are the current tag champs, it makes sense that Team DX wins the bout. It might make sense to have the Hardy boys put on a decent exhibition so they can continue as a team. The tag team division in WWE is basically a non-factor. Maybe this match will help turn things around. What Will Happen: I'm going with Team DX in this one. What Did Happen: Team DX takes it, not losing a man in the match. Challenge Match: John Cena, Kane, Lashley, Sabu and RVD vs. Big Show, Test, MVP, Finlay and Umaga. What Should Happen: This is the match that has the most potential to steal the show. Sure, Cena, Kane, Lashely, Show, Test, MVP and Umaga CAN'T WRESTLE -- but Sabu, RVD and Finlay can. Lashely should probably pin Show in the end to tease the possibility of an ECW title tilt, since Lashley is now playing in Paul Heyman's playground. What Will Happen: Team Cena will take it. What Did Happen: Team Cena won it. Show is having surgery soon, so look for Lashley to become the next ECW champ. Survivor Series Match: Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Sgt. Slaughter and Ron Simmons vs. The Spirit Squad (Kenny, Johhny, Nicky and Mikey) What Should Happen: Here, it's the old people versus the young male cheerleaders. If the "legends" don't win this somehow, I'm going to scream at the television set. I'm not expecting much in terms of actual wrestling, but Team Flair has decades of experience in telling stories in the ring. I want my money's worth here. What Will Happen: Team Flair wins here, with Spirit Squad finally self-destructing. What Did Happen: The Nature Boy won the match basically single-handedly, but was then beaten afterwards by the SS. U.S. Title Championship Match: Chris Benoit (c) vs. Chavo Guerrero What Should Happen: One thing WWE has to do is let Eddie Guerrero rest in peace. It's been more than a year since his tragic death, and Vince is still doing storylines surrounding it. If that means Chavo goes on a nice paid vacation, so be it. But to continue to make money off of Eddie's name is a bit disturbing. Then again, if Eddie's widow is profiting from it, who am I to cut off her money flow? It's a tough one. As for this match, if Eddie is going to be an angle, then it makes sense for his heel nephew to win. What Will Happen: I think Chavo will win the title due to interference from Vickie. What Did Happen: Vickie tried to interfere, but the Rapid Wolverine prevailed anyway. Benoit keeps his title. WWE Women's Championship Match: Lita (c) vs. Mickie James What Should Happen: Oh, just get it over with. By the way, how does Mickie James go from a Froot Loop stalking Trish Stratus to Miss Sunshine with no real explanation? Did I miss something? It's entirely possible, since I pay as little attention to this horrible division as I can. Sorry. What Will Happen: Lita says she's retiring after this match. I think Trish Stratus will help James win the belt, with Lita going out a loser. What Did Happen: Lita goes out a loser, and James wins back the women's strap. First Blood Match: Mr. Kennedy vs. Undertaker What Should Happen: Kennedy has shown some promise lately with his work behind the microphone. I'm not sure if I'm sold on his in-ring product yet, but this could be a good showcase to see how he's improving. UT might be the perfect candidate to get something out of him. Most of the time I see a Taker match on a card and dismiss it, but I'm often surprised how well he does in money matches. What should happen? A Kennedy victory, for sure. These two could be in a program until WrestleMania, where UT would score his final victory -- and make Kennedy a true star in the process. What Will Happen: I've convinced myself it'll happen. Kennedy wins. What Did Happen: While Kennedy drew first blood, the ref didn't see it. In the end, Taker drew first blood and Mr. Kennedy was declared the winner. World Heavyweight Championship Match: Booker T (c) vs. Batista What Should Happen: It's too soon for Batista to be crowned champion again, and to be honest, Booker T is doing a great job as a whacked-out heel. I'm not saying Batista shouldn't wear gold again, but not this soon. Let him chase the heel for a while longer. What Will Happen: Booker T will retain, but the victory will certainly be tainted. WWE can't bury Batista with a clean loss. What Didn Happen: I didn't see this one coming. Batista won to win Bookers' belt. And thal'll do it. As usual, my prediction skills were just short of perfect. Five out of seven matches were correctly predicted this time out. Go ahead. Say it. "Man, he's a visionary when it comes to fake sports. He must be a wrestling … wizard."And you would once again be correct. It's back to work, kids. To get over the blues, listen to our "Old School, New School" podcast over the lunch hour, it's RIGHT HERE.Now scram.
