Sienna, Pop Deny South Side TantrumPOSTED: 8:14 am EDT October 11, 2006 PITTSBURGH -- Is Sienna Miller at it again? Depends on who's telling the story.Miller -- one of the stars of "The Mysteries of Pittsburgh," which is shooting in various locations around the city -- dissed Pittsburgh in the latest issue of Rolling Stone magazine. On Friday, she publicly apologized on the movie set in the Strip District -- but on Saturday night, a bouncer claims she threw a tantrum outside a South Side bar.Miller, 24, was escorted out of Folino's Tavern on East Carson Street after trying to enter without proper identification.Bouncer Dan Kovacs said Miller slipped inside anyway and made a scene when he ordered her to leave."She said, 'Do you know who I am? I'm Sienna Miller, the actress. Who are you?'" Kovacs said. "I said, 'I'm Dan Kovacs, I'm for real,' and she became very belligerent and rude."Kovacs claims Miller threatened to publicly bad-mouth both him and the bar."I'm going to say that Dan Kovacs is the worst guy I ever met in my life, and Folino's is the worst place in Pittsburgh," Miller said, according to Kovacs.Bar owner Penny Folino denies that the story was fabricated."This in no way, shape or form was a publicity stunt at all, and it upsets me that now not only does she trash Pittsburgh, she also lies," she said.Miller released the following statement on Wednesday afternoon:"I understand from this morning's press that there is a story circulating about my supposed behavior at a local bar here in Pittsburgh on Saturday night."I wholeheartedly refute the allegations that I in any way acted in an inappropriate manner when asked for identification at this bar. Accompanied by my father and stepmother, I was asked to provide ID and since I didn't have any with me I was told I couldn't be served and asked to leave. I had no problem with this and my family and I left calmly without any further exchange of words."This was witnessed by at least 10 people, including members of the crew from the film and some recent friends I have made in a local Starbucks. All these people are local to Pittsburgh and will vouch for the fact that this never happened. I am dismayed that people would make up a story such as this as a means to their own end."Miller's father, Edwin, also released the following statement denying the bouncer's account:"I took my daughter out on Saturday night and joined some friends who had a table outside. After having been there for 15 minutes or so it appeared as if the doorman recognized Sienna and asked her for identification. She told him that she had left it at home and we were asked to leave. Several of our friends spoke to him and I introduced myself, asking if there was a way to solve the problem. He stated: 'She has ignored me since we arrived and if she'd been a little more pleasant, maybe I would agree, but there is no way now.' I can categorically state that at no time did Sienna engage in conversation with this person. None of the party ever spoke to Ms. Folino and the story she has released is total fabrication, apparently designed to give her bar its moment in the sun and perhaps boost business. In fact we went to another bar on 18th Street called St. James Place where we were welcomed and had a great time with the staff and a number of Pittsburghers, all of whom were happy to see us enjoying their city."
