Police in Harmony Township, Beaver County, charged a school bus driver Monday with endangering a boy by braking suddenly so the boy would fall down.

William McCartney, 68, was upset because the 10-year-old from Ambridge Area School District would not remain in his seat on Tuesday, police said.

According to a police report, McCartney told the boy, "If you do it again, I'll knock you down," and when the boy moved around again, the bus driver hit the brakes and knocked the boy down.

A surveillance video shows the boy was knocked to the floor out of camera view, and another student was seen flipping over a seat, police said.

Investigators told Channel 4 Action News' Marcie Cipriani at least 20 children were on the bus at the time of the incident and several hit their heads on the seats in front of them when the driver braked.

The criminal complaint said McCartney is charged with reckless endangerment, disorderly conduct and careless driving.
